Marathon on PS5 is a first-person extraction shooter set on Tau Ceti IV, a colony world whose population vanished under mysterious circumstances. You play as a Runner, a human mind inside a synthetic body, hired by factions to enter the danger zones, collect what they want and get back out in one piece.
About the game
Each match drops your crew of up to three players into a large zone alongside other crews and hostile security systems. Objectives, loot and enemy patrols are spread across the map, and the only way to keep what you find is to reach an extraction point before the timer runs out or another crew takes you down. Death means losing the gear you carried in, so every fight is a decision about risk and reward. Between runs you upgrade your Runner shell, buy and craft equipment and take contracts from factions that shape the ongoing story of the colony. Gunplay is fast and precise, with abilities tied to different shell types, and the striking graphic-design style makes enemies and loot easy to read at a glance. The game is online only and evolves through seasons.
