Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn and follows Aloy as she heads west into a frontier of deserts, forests, flooded cities and ruined coastlines. A red blight is spreading and machines are growing more aggressive, and only she can find out why.
About the game
The world is far larger and more varied than the first game, and Aloy has new ways to cross it: a glider for leaping from cliffs, a diving mask for exploring sunken ruins and a grappling tool for climbing. Machine hunting remains the core of combat. You scan each creature to find weak points and removable parts, then use bows, slings, traps and elemental ammunition to bring it down, and larger machines can be mounted or overridden to fight for you. The tribes of the west each have their own culture and settlements, and side quests are substantial, often with their own characters and consequences. Weapon and outfit upgrades require parts from specific machines, so hunting has a clear purpose. On PS5 the game runs at 60 fps in performance mode, loads in seconds and uses DualSense triggers for bow tension.
