Web-swinging uses real anchor points on buildings, and the momentum you build by diving and releasing at the right moment makes crossing Manhattan a pleasure in itself. Combat mixes fast melee attacks, dodges triggered by Spider-Sense and a set of gadgets such as web bombs and trip mines, and it rewards keeping enemies in the air. The story is original rather than a retelling of any film. It starts with the arrest of Wilson Fisk and grows into a conflict with Mister Negative and, eventually, a team of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies, while Peter’s friendship with Otto Octavius gives the plot real emotional weight.
