Ghost of Yōtei on PS5 is a new open-world adventure from the team behind Ghost of Tsushima. It is set in 1603 in Ezo, the untamed northern region of Japan, and follows Atsu, a warrior who returns home years after her family was killed to hunt down the six people responsible.
About the game
The Yōtei Six can be tracked in almost any order, and the game lets you follow rumours, ask locals and stumble onto leads while roaming the countryside. Atsu is not a samurai, so her fighting style is broader than Jin’s: alongside the katana she uses paired blades, a spear, a heavy odachi and a chain-sickle, and switching weapons to match your opponent is central to combat. Firearms appear for the first time in the series. The land around Mount Yōtei is huge and varied, with snowfields, hot springs, grasslands and coastal villages, and the wind once again guides you rather than a busy map. Campfires let you rest, cook and reflect, and a spyglass helps you scout from high ground. The PS5 version runs smoothly with fast loading, DualSense feedback for every weapon and a range of visual modes inspired by classic Japanese cinema.
