Description
Rise of the Ronin on PS5 is an open-world action RPG from Team Ninja set at the end of Japan’s Edo period. Foreign warships have forced the country open, factions are fighting over its future and you play a ronin free to choose a side, or switch between them, as the story unfolds.
About the game
The game spans Yokohama, Edo and Kyoto as large open regions full of towns, temples and countryside. Combat carries the precision Team Ninja is known for, with counter-sparks that deflect attacks at the right moment, several weapon types including katanas, odachi, spears and sabres, and firearms for ranged pressure. Stances counter specific enemy weapons, so reading your opponent matters. Between missions you build bonds with historical figures such as Sakamoto Ryoma, and those relationships unlock new skills, gear and story branches. A glider lets you soar between rooftops, horses speed up travel and a grappling hook helps with climbing and stealth. Choices affect which faction you support and how key events play out. On PS5 the game offers performance and quality modes, quick loading and DualSense feedback for blades and guns.
